As a major consideration we have to review the protective covering of the GCR rolling stock held in open storage in the Yard at Ruddington , to ensure all covers are tied down or recovered. The howling gales in “Little Siberia” have, as many will have noted, increased in frequency and intensity. So, we have to consider what has to be protected as well the protection itself.
Two un-restored Barnums, a delightful clerestory and a couple of Suburbans. plus another MS&LR 6-wheeler, are still out there suffering all weathers – and vandal attacks.
A long-time supporter of the GCR(N) enterprise, John Rodmel, has brought a team from his Nottingham-based Big Tops marquee hire business to our rescue year after year – and mightily glad we have been for his highly professional support and much appreciated help.
