We have a narrow but exciting opportunity to show you, just how our new start-back to work on the Barnum in 2022 is blasting off this year…..! We have a VIP visit organised for Saturday 23 July starting at 11.00 hours. Do you wish to join us….?
Yes, come and see for yourselves – the first ten to reply – who will also enjoy a very nice buffet being served up by Mike Lang on the BR RBR on Platform no.1 at the NTHC Ruddington – should respond with speed and enthusiasm to
You will have heard of the Barnum carriage by now. With a great deal of preparatory work behind the scenes, led by Trustee Roger Penson and computer wizard Steve Stimpson, a full set of design drawings have been developed to enable us not only to order a trial seating-set but also to have it made up into a prototype 4-seat back-to-back unit. Devised by Steve Billings of Kreativ Joinery, that unit has been now trial fitted in the Barnum saloon, thanks to the RST team re-installing the floor., with absolute precision fit.
The use of computer design in heritage rail restoration is not new but it is a massive aid – and is ideally suited to the three very similar Barnum carriages – the original build of 1910 is now complimented by fast electronic -design and CAD/CAM support makes the most of the original ground-breaking standardised design by GCR’s innovating CME John G Robinson.
New water tanks, carefully crafted seat units, and only maybe the magnificently restored pair of bogies there to be admired. Do come and join us. There is no cost to you – but your donation will be gratefully received!
So, are you coming to Ruddington….? We need to know now on gcrrollingstocktrust@live.co.uk!
